Heroes Honored

Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies Joseph Kievernagel and Kevin Blount , died in the line of duty in a helicopter crash while on routine aerial patrol on July 13, 2005. On July 20, 2005 more than 1,000 people gathered at a funeral to honor them. Hundreds of police officers from all over the Western United States attended the funeral and participated in a motorcade in their honor. These pictures show individual police and other emergency vehicles passing our vantage point along US Highway 50 in Rancho Cordova, California.
